Umeed Foundation is a professionally managed, non-governmental & nonprofit organization working since 2017, started by a group of students with the main aim to alleviate illiteracy in Pakistan.

We are providing free-of-cost quality education to underprivileged children of our community who are unable to continue their future education. Giving knowledge to more than 500 children with 5 branches currently working in different cities  of Pakistan including Tharparkar, Sindh. Umeed Foundation is the hope of many!

The proposed 2024 project involves the creation of a well-equipped computer lab at the “Umeed Main Branch Jaranwala Campus,” benefiting a total of 80 students, including both males and females. The primary objective of providing essential technological resources and educational opportunities to underprivileged children in the Umeed Foundation.

The lab will feature modern computing equipment and software, offering students access to digital learning, computer skills development, and internet resources. By bridging the digital divide, this project aims to empower these students with valuable skills and knowledge, opening doors to a brighter future and expanded educational horizons.

The support I have received from GradPrep has really made me confident in my abilities. GradPrep has definitely made a huge impact on my personal and professional life. It is a privilege for me to be part of this amazing team.

Most often, communities with health screening events face financial challenges, making it difficult to acquire some basic needs.

In the coming year, the focus of donations is on the provision of menstrual hygiene products.

According to my research projects (manuscript is under review in Public Health Challenge Journal), there is a greater percentage of Ghanaians in remote areas accessing sanitary products due to financial constraints.

The GradPrep Ghana Social Impact event would aid in donating to young girls in remote communities sanitary products. This will enhance menstrual hygiene practices as well as educate the populace on best practices. This would further prevent cases of cervical cancer as a result of poor menstrual hygiene practices.

For the past two years as a Global Graduate Fellow, my development has been substantial. Engaging in an online training (INNOVATE), continuous learning, and projects throughout the program has significantly enhanced my skills and knowledge.

The Global Graduate Fellows Program has sharpened my problem-solving abilities and expanded my understanding of the importance of contributing and addressing pressing problems facing my community.

Moreover, networking with other Global Graduate Fellows has provided invaluable insights. I’ve been working with people from other geographical settings. This has enhanced my adaptability in a dynamic global environment.

I am a polymath. Also, I am fascinated by travel because I learn about new cultures and meet people. I especially love visiting natural habitats, art museums, and historical landmarks.

Currently, I am undergoing my one-year training in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). During this training, I must present an individual project before the year runs out depending on my place of primary assignment. NYSC will assign placements soon.
I envision partnering with GradPrep for sponsorship on that project as I plan to have it as my highlight for 2024. It’s definitely going to be a project that touches lives and communities here.

Since becoming a Global Graduate Fellow, my personal and professional growth has been incredible. The exposure to harness diverse perspectives, dormant skills, and challenges has honed my adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Engaging with people, trying out new things, and my personal growth has expanded my network. This has fostered collaborative learning. This experience so far has molded me into a more globally aware and versatile individual.

Finally, being a Global Graduate Fellow continues to equip me with the skills and mindset needed to propel the complexities of this interconnected world.

Elise Hicks

My name is Elise Hicks, 24. I am a graduate of Liberty University (’20) with a degree in Family and Child Development, with minors in psychology and sociology. In addition, I have extensive experience working with trauma, crisis care, and counseling.

Since my first mission trip to Honduras in 2015, God placed a desire in my heart to do orphan care! We served at a boy’s home that did not have parents to raise these young gentlemen… this broke my heart. In a matter of days, I decided that wanted to fix that problem– to be a house mom for those precious boys!

Attending LU was a way to learn practical information, tangible skills, and to gain resources to achieve that goal. The home actually closed while I was in the middle of my degree, but God had not led me astray! There is another international organization I work with now that has family-style children’s homes– the exact format I wanted to create. Currently, I am a volunteer who helps with summer missions teams, teaches English, gives site-wite emotional/behavioral support, and develops age-appropriate Bible curriculum for the kids.

This life is not what I imagined, it is so much better. God is good. Thank you, GradPrep, for helping me reach this goal!

Over twenty years ago, our Founder was in the same predicament as her Fellows. She had a vision, a passion to help others, but needed support.

Today, we are seeing the next generation of change agents approach us with those same needs. Help us undergird emerging doctors, entrepreneurs, and leaders in their development.

Together, we can release hope to the next generation.
